Elastomeric bearings are complex components that are used in many technical systems. They have to support loads in a limited installation space, isolate and dampen vibrations and have a long service life under sometimes extreme conditions. The large catalog of requirements has so far required many iterations and prototypes in the development of elastomer mounts. Eric Töpel has now succeeded in developing an automated process that significantly shortens the design process for elastomer mounts with the help of machine learning.
